The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) is a statutory body established in terms of Act 59 of 1995 (as amended) for, inter alia, the creation of conditions for the development and for the promotion of equal use and enjoyment of all the official South African languages. PanSALB seeks to appoint results-driven, assertive and dedicated individuals to fill the following positions.

 
NEW POSITIONS

1. AUDIT, RISK and ICT COMMITTEE MEMBER X4

Reference: 1ACM2017

In terms of Section 76 and 77 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) of 1999, PanSALB calls on qualified and interested persons to serve on its Audit and Risk Committee till 30 April 2020. Candidates can apply personally or be nominated by someone else. Nominees working and residing in Gauteng and from the Public Service Sector or from the Training and Development Sector will be given preference.

Candidate requirements: The ideal candidate should have more than five years’ management experience gained from the Audit/Financial/Legal/Risk Management/Governance environment. Experience in or knowledge of the Public Finance and Public Sector will be considered as an additional advantage.

In addition to the above, candidates should demonstrate experience in participating in governance structures, ability to dedicate time to the activities of PanSALB’s Audit and Risk Committee, have an inquisitive personality within reasonable levels of probing, analytical reasoning abilities and goodcommunication skills, and a fair understanding of the regulatory framework within which national
departments operate.

Term of appointment: Appointments will be made for a period of 3 years after which, the Board fornPanSALB may renew the appointment period for another term. This is not a full-time appointment. The Audit and Risk Committee has four statutory meetings per annum and additional meetings may be convened as deemed by the Audit and Risk Committee.

Remuneration: Compensation of Audit Committee members is determined by the National Treasury and/or the Auditor-General. Schedules in this regard are issued annually with specific hourly or daily rates. All other refundable expenses are based on PanSALB’s related policies in line with the National Treasury guidelines.

2. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Remuneration Package: R211 194 Per annum (Additional benefits include housing and medical allowance, 13th Cheque and Provident Fund)

Location: Head Office (Pretoria)

The purpose of the position: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for secretarial and administrative services for the Office of the CEO in support of the Chief of Staff and Senior Manager: Institutional Performance and Governance. The duties involved include coordination of correspondences in the Office, typing, copying of documents, faxing and processing of reports that come to this office within PanSALB and other PanSALB’ s structures. 3. SENIOR PROVINCIAL MANAGER

Location: Eastern Cape Provincial Office

The Provincial Manager is responsible for operational management, leadership and coordination of PanSALB’s functions at the provincial and local level. The incumbent must implement the province’s language policies and ensure effective running of the Provincial Office. Develop policies and procedures, manage resources and report periodically. Implement and improve practices and initiatives to align the Provincial Office with the strategic requirements of the Division. Manage the effective use of resources in the Provincial Office. 4. CHIEF LANGUAGE PRACTITIONER X2

Location: North West and Free State Provincial Offices

The Chief Language Practitioner is responsible for the implementation of language development and usage in the province. The incumbent must ensure equitability of language use, language promotion, implement language research programmes as well as co-ordinate the linguistichuman rights cases. The incumbent must also support PLC’s, NLB’s and NLU’s within the Province. Whilst complying with the offices policies and procedures, the incumbent must focus on improving and supporting their work in order to respond to PanSALB’s business requirements through troubleshooting and diagnosis of problems and taking corrective measurements. The Chief of Staff will be responsible for rendering executive support to the CEO and management of the CEO’s office. 3. SENIOR MANAGER: INSTITUTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND GOVERNANCE

The Senior Manager: Institutional Perfomance and Governance will be responsible for managing the monitoring and evaluation of PanSALB’s corporate strategy as well as coordinating and managing the strategy development process and ensuring strategy alignment across all operational areas and strategy reporting procedures. The role must also focus on strategy measurement which involves determining the extent to which objectives are being achieved through developing performance indicators and linking them to set performance targets aligned to strategic objectives.
