The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) is a statutory body established in terms of Act 59 of 1995 (as amended) for, inter alia, the creation of conditions for the development and for the promotion of equal use and enjoyment of all the official South African languages. PanSALB seeks to appoint results-driven, assertive and dedicated individuals to fill the following positions.

This serves to place an erratum in respect of the advert issued in the City Press dated 31 March 2019 containing the following vacancies:

  1. Graduate Intern opportunity: Chief Language Practitioner: Sesotho sa Leboa (ref number 01/2019)
  2. Chief Language Practitioner (Limpopo ref number 02/2019; Gauteng ref number 03/2019; Western Cape ref number 04/2019; Mpumalanga ref number 05/2019 and North West ref number 06/2019);
  3. Executive Head: Languages (ref number 07/2019); and

Requirements:To qualify for the Internship Programme, you must: • Be an unemployed graduate aged between 20 and 35 years • Have completed a three (3) year National Diploma (NQF 6) or Degree/ Honours/ Master’s Degree in Arts, Language Practice/ Translation and Interpreting and related field of studies from accredited institutions of Higher Learning • A good command of at least three (3) official languages of the relevant Province.• Be a South African citizen • Not have participated previously in an internship in the Public Service. 2. CHIEF LANGUAGE PRACTITIONER X5

Salary Level 10: R444,693 per annum
Reference:Limpopo: 02/ 2019, Gauteng: 03/ 2019, Western Cape:04/ 2019, Mpumalanga: 05/ 2019, North West: 06/2019
Location: Limpopo (Polokwane), Gauteng (Pretoria), Western Cape (Cape Town) Mpumalanga (Witbank) and North West (Mahikeng) Provincial Offices

Requirements: Applicants must be in a possession of a National Diploma or B-degree in Languages (or equivalent qualification) with translation, Interpreting, status language planning, lexicography, terminology coupled with 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Language Practitioner. A Post graduate qualification will be an added advantage. 3-5 years’ experience working on Language matters including Linguistic Human Rights. Sound knowledge of Language Legislation, Monitoring and Evaluation System. Knowledge of Research, Policy Development and the PanSALB Act. A good command of at least three (3) official languages of the relevant Province. A valid Code 08 drivers’ licence and preparedness to work under pressure and travel extensively. 3. COORDINATOR: LANGUAGES

Salary Level 11: R697,011 per annum (All-inclusive package, of which a portion can be structured according to the individual’s needs)

Location: Head Office (Pretoria)

Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of a Senior Certificate and National Diploma in Administration or Language related qualification. At least 3 years’ experience within a 3 years’ experience in a coordinating and administrative role. Stakeholder liaison role and financial administration background will be an advantage. Sound knowledge of the PanSALB Act, Language legislation and policy. Provincial Language Committee Norms and Rules. Knowledge of document management. Must be assertive, trustworthy, ethical andprofessional with integrity. Must be creative, motivated, self-driven,
results-oriented. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of confidentiality. A valid drivers’ licence and preparedness to travel, work outside normal hours and willingness to accept responsibility and perform any other ad-hoc function as may be required. Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of a minimum Master’s Degree or equivalent within the language discipline and being passionate about the latest language policy developments and trends. At least 7 year’s proven experience at management / executive level. Sound knowledge and understanding of all relevant prescripts including but not limited to the PanSALB Act, Public Finance Management Act, Treasury regulations, Public Service Act, as well as government structures and procedures.
