The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) is a statutory body established in terms of Act 59 of 1995 (as amended) for, inter alia, the creation of conditions for the development and for the promotion of equal use and enjoyment of all the official South African languages. PanSALB seeks to appoint results-driven, assertive and dedicated individuals to fill the following positions.

1. Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Five (5) years fixed term employment contract

Salary Package: R1,251,183 – R1,495,956 per annum (All-inclusive package, of which a portion can be structuredaccording to the individual’s needs)

Purpose of the Position: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) contributes to PanSALB’s strategic objectives by providingfinancial services that enables the achievement of strategic goals. The role leads in the preparation and implementation of the PANSALB Budget and Financial Plans aligned to PanSALB’s strategy. The incumbent further ensures compliance with accounting policies, standards, principles, all acts and other statutory requirements. The role has an optimisationfocus that must lead to continuous improvement initiatives to PanSALB’s strategy.

2. Executive Head: Languages (Re-Advertisement)

3. Deputy Director: Information Technology Support Infrastructure

The purpose of the position is to ensure that PanSALB’s IT needs are met, including applications, networks and hardware operations.The role must focus on the development of synergies between existing infrastructure and architecting new concepts aligned to theevolution of PanSALB’s business needs. The incumbent is also responsible for the development of PanSALB’s IT business applicationsand the efficient deployment of such applications to all users. The incumbent must ensure maximum integration of all systems andeffective running of such systems.

4. Chief Language Practitioner (Setswana)

Purpose of the Position: The Chief Language Practitioner is responsible for the implementation of language development and usagein the province. The incumbent must ensure equitability of language use, language promotion, implement language researchprogrammes as well as co-ordinate the linguistic human rights cases. The incumbent must also support PLC’s, NLB’s and NLU’s withinthe Province. The incumbent shall also execute any other duty as assigned by his/her supervisor.

The purpose of the position: The Cleaner is responsible for ensuring that PanSALB’s offices are clean, tidy and presentable at alltimes. The incumbent must ensure that all cleaning tasks allocated to them are performed effectively and efficiently, thereby ensuringa high standard of cleanliness in their allocated areas. Activities in this role include organisation of catering for PanSALB staff as wellas visitors, maintaining sufficient levels of refreshment and cleaning stocks, reporting any malfunctions related to the general officeenvironment and the serving of refreshments to staff as well as visitors.

Requirements: Applicants must be in a possession of a National Diploma or B-degree in Languages (or equivalent qualification) with translation, Interpreting, status language planning, lexicography, terminology coupled with 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Language Practitioner. A Post graduate qualification will be an added advantage. 3-5 years’ experience working on Language matters including Linguistic Human Rights. Sound knowledge of Language Legislation, Monitoring and Evaluation System. Knowledge of Research, Policy Development and the PanSALB Act. A good command of at least three (3) official languages of the relevant Province. A valid Code 08 drivers’ licence and preparedness to work under pressure and travel extensively. At least 3 years’ experience within a 3 years’ experience in a coordinating and administrative role. Stakeholder liaison role and financial administration background will be an advantage. Sound knowledge of the PanSALB Act, Language legislation and policy. Provincial Language Committee Norms and Rules. Knowledge of document management. Must be assertive, trustworthy, ethical and professional with integrity. Must be creative, motivated, self-driven,

results-oriented. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
